How To Help

One Time or Recurring Donations to Support Our Ministry in Southeast Baltimore

Support for a Greektown Family Impacted by a Devastating Fire on the 600 Block of Oldham

On April 30th, a fire broke out in the basement of the house, resulting in major damage and, most significantly, sending two toddlers, twin brothers, to the hospital with serious injuries.

There are specific needs which have been identified by the family and which we are sharing broadly with the community, asking for your help.

  1. Financial support is the best way to help in this moment. It allows families to arrange for temporary and short-term housing, and to make immediate replacement purchases for items necessary for daily life. You can make that donation here: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=SGLHJSCSGWJ5C
  2. Basic food items have been requested by the family. Think household staples, not perishable, and particularly those which might be useful in a Latiné household. Bottled water is also helpful. Those donations can be dropped off at John Ruhrah school (701 Rappolla Street in Greektown). Please ask for the Community School Coordinator, Ms. Fernanda Caballero.
  3. The family lost nearly all of their clothing in the fire. Clothing of all kinds, for adults and children, are needed. Please see the specific sizing below. Those donations can be dropped off at John Ruhrah school (701 Rappolla Street in Greektown). Please ask for the Community School Coordinator, Ms. Fernanda Caballero.

Eat Crabs! Help Kids! Neighborhood Crab Feast, June 16th

Sunday, June 16th, 12:30pm-4pm at
Breath of God Lutheran Church
We're gathering to share crabs, kid-friendly summer food, and a great afternoon together. Bring your own beer or other alcohol--but we've got everything else covered.
All funds raised help to provide backpacks and school supplies to more than 400 local students this August.
Suggested Donation (feel free to give more!)
$45 per adult, $5 per child under 14 years old

We have a maximum capacity of 75 people, so we encourage you to sign up sooner rather than later. We can't over-fill the event at the last minute because we need to make sure our crab supply will be sufficient. Thanks!

Donations to Support Our Efforts to Feed Neighborhood Families

We are providing groceries, produce, and meals to more than 200 local families, now once every month (on the fourth Saturday). Your donations help us purchase food from the Maryland Food Bank and from local sources to prepare meals and give out as groceries.

Donations to Support the Clinton Street Community Center: Refugee Resettlement

We purchased two fire-damaged properties next to our church building so that we are able to better support families and expand our community work--including adding two year old classrooms for The Highlandtown Preschool, and providing housing and support for refugee families. You can learn more and make a donation at this website.
